Granby was incorporated in 1786 from Simsbury and covers 40.7 square miles on Connecticut’s north central border with Massachusetts. Primarily a rural residential community, Granby is home for many white collar and professional workers in Greater Hartford’s financial and insurance corporate headquarters and industries. Located 13.6 miles north of Hartford, the town is bordered on the east by the towns of Suffield and East Granby, on the south by Simsbury and Canton, and to the west by the towns of Barkhamsted and Hartland. Granby’s estimated population: 11,000.

Granby, CT Resources:

Salmon Brook Historical Society – The image of a New England town as a rural, peaceful oasis is a myth. Granby, Connecticut has the traditional green and the classic white Congregational Church, along with a history of conflict and change. The town was settled by a rugged and adventurous group of rebels, dissenters, and outlanders.

Granby Recreation Department – The Granby Recreation Dept is proud to provide the Town of Granby with our activity registration system and website.

Granby Chamber of Commerce – The town of Granby has a lot to offer its residents and its visitors, and no one knows that better than the dedicated business owners of this town. We, at the Granby Chamber of Commerce, do our best to support our community by supporting the local small businesses that make our place unique and rich with character.
